SM: 你被李安万里挑一选中去演《色，戒》中的主角，那么你是如何得到这个角色的呢？
TW: 我的一个朋友告诉我这个试镜机会。那时我正在演一部电视剧，恰好那天没我的戏，
所以我就去参加试镜了。我不知道谁是导演，也不知道是什么电影，纯粹是机缘巧合，
也可能是命中注定。试镜后，他们又叫我复试，我花了妆和穿了戏服演了一段戏，然后
公司制片带我去了香港，当我香港时，他们告诉我，由我出演王佳芝。
SM: 你试镜都做了些什么？
TW: 他们给我拍照和摄像。我读了2页剧本。不是真的剧本。（笑）复试的时候李安和编
剧Wang Hui Ling和我聊天，大部分是我在说。我还唱了首歌。那天我身体不适，状态很
糟。我见到李安的时候，眼睛还是浮肿的，喉咙很痛，还发烧，前夜我只睡了一小会儿。
不过这个和试镜前的不安没关系，只是个人原因。我一起遇见陌生人通常会紧张，所以试
镜一开始我非常的紧张，但是李安和编剧非常的友好和善，这让我觉得很放松。李安真是
个好的聆听者，我发现他是一个可以推心置腹的人。
SM: 你多么想要演这个角色？
TW: 这部片子的拍摄非常的隐秘并高度保密，我开始也不知道这是什么电影。我只是试着
得到一部电影的角色而已。不过当我看到散落在地板上那些大牌演员的资料时，压力倍增
SM: 和李安拍戏是什么感觉？
TW: 试镜的时候李安倒了杯茶给我，我惊讶的发现他完全没有大导演的自负。他人非常的
和蔼可亲。拍戏的时候他高标准严要求，作为一个演员我更喜欢导演给我特别的指导，但
是和他工作我没有感到自己的能力受到局限，相反我觉得他能挖掘出你自己不知道的潜力
SM: 你之前是他的影迷吗？
TW: 现在是了。（笑） 我以前知道他，但是试镜前没有看过他的电影，他给了我一套他的
电影DVD历年作品全集，告诉我这是我第一份作业。
SM: 说下你在这部电影中的角色
TW: 我扮演王佳芝。她是个普通的大学生，在一个单亲家庭长大。她的大学在战争的时候
搬到香港去了。在爱国热情的鼓舞下，她加入了学校的戏剧小组，并被派去诱杀为汪精卫
政府（代理日本的傀儡政府）秘密工作的头目易先生。她的人生起伏不断。演绎这样一个
的角色是一段独特的经历因为我觉得王佳芝是上世纪30，40年代大部分上海女性的写照。
她很勇敢并且敢于追求真我。她从一个天真的女孩成为一个了解真我的女人。

TEPHEN MOOALLEM: You were handpicked by Ang Lee from hundreds of women to 
play a pivotal role in Lust, Caution. How did you get chosen to be a part of the movie?
TANG WEI: A friend of mine told me about the audition. I was busy working on a TV
 project and happened to have that day off, so I went. I didn’t know who was directing 
the movie or what it was about. It’s purely by coincidence—it’s probably destiny. 
I went to the audition, got called back, and then did a screen testwith makeup and 
wardrobe. The production [company]flew me to Hong Kong. When I arrived, they told 
me I got the part. 
SM: What did you do for your audition? 
TW: They photographed and videotaped me, and I read two pages of the script. It 
was a fake script. [laughs] At the callback Ang and screenwriter Wang Hui Ling just 
chatted with me—well, it was me doing most of the talking. I also sang a song. 
Physically, that was the worst day for me. When I met Ang, my eyes were swollen 
and I had a sore throat and a fever. I had had very little sleep the night before.That 
had nothing to do with the anxiety of the audition—it was a personal matter. I always
 get nervous when I encounter strangers, and I was very nervous at the beginning of 
the audition. But Ang and Hui Ling were very kind and friendly. They made me feel
 relaxed. Ang is such a good listener. At the end I felt I had found someone that I 
could talk to from the heart. 
SM: How badly did you want the role? 
TW: Since the production kept the casting process very mysterious and highly 
confidential, I had no clue what the movie was. I was just going to try to get a role
 in a film. But of course the pressure crept in when I saw big piles of actors’
 information scattered on the floor.
SM: What was it like working with Ang Lee as a director? 
TW: Ang poured tea for me during the audition. I was surprised to find that he
 has no big director ego. He is very kind. Working on the movie, I found that he 
has very high standards and strict demands. As an actor I think I prefer getting
 specific instructions from a director. But I felt no boundaries when I worked
 with him. I feel Ang can discover potential that you didn’t know you had. 
SM: Were you a fan of his films before?
TW: I am now. [laughs] I knew who Ang was, but I hadn’t seen any of his 
movies before the audition, so he gave me a complete DVD set of his movies 
and told me that was my first homework assignment. 
SM: Tell us a little bit about your character’s role in the film.
TW: I play Wang Chia-Chih. She is an ordinary college student who was
 brought up by a single parent. Her school was relocated to Hong Kong during
 the war. With patriotic spirit she joins her school theater group and is engaged 
to try to seduce and kill the head of the secret service for the fake Wang 
government, a pro-Japanese puppet government. Her life turns upside down. 
It was an extraordinary experience [to play a character like her] because I think 
Wang represents a lot of women in 1930s and 1940s Shanghai. She is bold 
and dares to pursue her true self. She transforms from innocence into a woman 
with a complete realization of her own self.
